At 642 meters, Mount Ikoma is relatively low, but its charm is immeasurable. The mountain offers a variety of trails suitable for everyone, from beginners to seasoned hikers, and boasts stunning scenery throughout the year.

Easy Access One of Mount Ikoma’s great advantages is its accessibility. It's just a 25-minute train ride from the center of Osaka, and from the station, a cable car takes you directly to the summit, making it an easy destination to reach.

Well-Maintained Trails The trails on Mount Ikoma are well-maintained, with toilets and benches scattered along the way, ensuring a safe and enjoyable hike for beginners and families with children.

Breathtaking Views The panoramic views from Mount Ikoma are truly spectacular. On clear days, you can see as far as Osaka city, the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, and Awaji Island. Looking towards Nara, you can enjoy a contrasting view with fewer tall buildings, offering a different perspective from the bustling cityscape of Osaka.

Trail Options For beginners, there is a course that takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes to reach the summit. This route is mostly paved with stone steps, making it easy to walk. There is also a longer trail that spans 8.7 kilometers and takes approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes. Even though it's a relatively straightforward hike, it's recommended to bring plenty of food and water.

Matsuyamachisuji is a roughly 1 km-long north-south street in Osaka Ward, renowned for its over 100 wholesale and specialty stores that sell Japanese dolls (such as hina ningyo), toys, candy, and Japanese paper. Locally, Matsuyamachi is pronounced "Matchamachi," earning it the nickname "Gotchamachi." This nickname ("gotcha" means jumble) reflects how Osakans traditionally viewed Matsuyamachi as a place to find goods for every occasion. Before May, the street would be bustling with people buying gogatsu ningyo (dolls for the Boys' Festival in May).
