Hello everyone! Today, I want to introduce you to a unique and exciting new dish: "Potato Soba or Udon"! Doesn't the name alone make you curious?


You can find this creative menu item at a standing noodle shop located within a train station. You get to choose between soba or udon, and the surprising topping is none other than French fries.


I opted for soba. The visual impact is incredible! The sight of crispy French fries on top of the soba is definitely Instagram-worthy.


Taking a bite, I was pleasantly surprised by the texture of the crispy fries soaked in the broth. The secret soba broth seeps into the fries, combining the salty and oily flavors in a surprisingly delicious way!

This shop's primary clientele used to be middle-aged and older adults, but to attract younger customers, they came up with the impactful "Potato Soba or Udon." The effort paid off, and it became a hit on social media and in the media, drawing many young visitors.

Matsuyamachisuji(松屋町筋)

Matsuyamachisuji is a roughly 1 km-long north-south street in Osaka Ward, renowned for its over 100 wholesale and specialty stores that sell Japanese dolls (such as hina ningyo), toys, candy, and Japanese paper. Locally, Matsuyamachi is pronounced "Matchamachi," earning it the nickname "Gotchamachi."
